In a steadfast commitment to enhancing the quality of life for its residents, the Provincial Government of Camarines Sur, through Serbisyong Ka Fuerte and its Ka Fuerte Medical Assistance Program, continues to provide high-quality wheelchairs to those in need across the province. Demonstrating its dedication to inclusive healthcare and social welfare, the program recently conducted a three-day wheelchair distribution from February 14-16, 2025, reaching 26 municipalities, including the city of Iriga, and benefiting over 150 individuals who require mobility support.
The initiative aims to empower persons with disabilities, the elderly, and individuals with mobility impairments by granting them greater independence and improved quality of life. The delivery teams from Serbisyong Ka Fuerte personally ensured that each beneficiary received their much-needed wheelchair, making a meaningful difference in their daily lives.
One of the recipients, Imelda Competente from San Jose, Camarines Sur, was overwhelmed with gratitude. Her husband, Antonio Competente, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the timely assistance provided by the program. “Salamat nin maray ta may matutukawan na siya. Salamat ki Governor Luigi Villafuerte ta si pigrequest ko saiya, inabot tulos. Muya ko pa talagang makapagtukaw-tukaw lamang an agom ko asin makapagkalag-kalag sa luwas. Dae ko man ini madara sa doktor ta arog po kaiyan mayo po siyang wheelchair,” he said, emphasizing the immense relief the wheelchair brings to their family.
Beyond providing mobility, the program significantly alleviates the burden of caregiving on families. Having a wheelchair enhances the safety, comfort, and well-being of the recipients while allowing them to participate more actively in their communities. For many, it represents newfound freedom and dignity, enabling them to carry out daily activities with greater ease.
