The construction industry is considered to be vital in a country’s economy for it has a direct impact to healthcare, education, and businesses through infrastructures. But because of the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, the world was affected by the sudden changes including the construction sector. Fortunately, the construction industry has more potential to recovery through innovations which in turn can produce more employment opportunities, benefit the supply chain, and further develop the country’s economic growth.
To support the economic stability and development of the province of Camarines Sur and its constituents, the Camarines Sur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (CSCCI) in partnership with the Provincial Government of Camarines Sur, held its 4th CamSur Construct with the theme, “Exploring Construction and Innovation” on September 2-3, 2022 at the Capitol Convention Center. Keynote Speaker Senator Mark Villar graced the event.
The two-day event aimed to combat the impacts brought by the COVID-19 pandemic and to promote the recovery in the construction industry and the economy through creating more jobs and investments. It also aimed to equip the future architects and engineers in the province with learnings and innovative ideas. Various exhibitors from the construction industry showcased their products and services. Successful architects and engineers also discussed the innovative trends in the construction industry during the plenary sessions.
Sika Philippines, Inc. through its Technical Coordinator Niño Zonio was among the participating companies in the exhibits. Being able to join the 4th CamSur Construct has opened doors for companies like them to have more potential clients that will benefit their company’s sales and promotion. Zonio also thanked the CSCCI for conducting such event that enabled Camarinenses to gain more innovative ideas and discover construction materials that are not readily available in the market.
Another exhibitor is DL Builders and Construction Supplies. Vince Sabalsa from its Sales Department extended his utmost gratitude for the organizers of the event. “Thank you sa CSCCI for having this event ta nagkaigwa kami ning pagkakataon na mai-showcase mi an mga tigke-cater mi na mga product. And sana magin tuloy-tuloy man ta part ini kan pag-grow kan province in terms of construction.” Just like the other companies, Sabalsa also hoped to acquire potential customers through the event.
Apart from the government agencies, engineering and architecture students from various colleges and universities in the province attended the 4th CamSur Construct plenary sessions. One of these aspiring students is 33-year-old Rahjam Casimero from Sta. Cruz, Baao. He is a 3rd year college student at the University of Saint Anthony (USANT) taking up Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Being an engineering student, online classes were difficult for them since the course is very technical and requires actual lessons and discussions. With this, he convinced his classmates to attend the 4th CamSur Construct.
“Sabi ko sa mga kaklase ko, ‘sumali tayo sa event na ito kasi hindi lang ito gaya ng ibang seminar kundi it’s another step na magkaroon tayo ng exposure, lalo na face-to-face’. Kaya we are very honoured na nagkaroon ng ganitong event ang CSCCI.”
As an engineering student, immersing in such events will be of great help to them for they gain new learnings that they may use as they pursue their chosen field.
Through the collaborative efforts with the CSCCI, the Provincial Government of Camarines Sur is in full support to the construction industry in the province for a more progressive, resilient, and sustainable construction industry to be able to keep pace with the constant change in trends that will benefit the economy of the province whilst recovering from the changing times.
