The Emergency and Disaster Management Response Office (EDMERO) of Camarines Sur successfully conducted a four-day Basic Life Support (BLS) and Standard First Aid (SFA) Training for 40 personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP) from across the province.
The training was held from March 24 to 27, 2026, at the Multi-purpose Building of the Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office, Camp Colonel Juan Querubin Miranda, Concepcion Grande, Naga City.
A total of 40 PNP personnel from the Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office (CSPPO) actively participated in the activity, equipping themselves with essential life-saving skills and enhancing their confidence to respond promptly and effectively during emergencies. The participants likewise demonstrated a strong commitment to public safety and their crucial role as frontline responders.
This initiative aimed to strengthen the emergency response capabilities of PNP personnel by enhancing their readiness in critical situations. Serving as a refresher course, the training reinforced participants’ prior knowledge and previous learning, while introducing updated techniques and best practices to ensure that their competencies remain responsive, relevant, and effective.
Through a combination of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on exercises, participants revisited and improved their skills in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and other vital life-saving procedures. The activity also fostered teamwork, situational awareness, and efficient coordination during emergencies and disaster response operations.
Police Staff Sergeant Rodrigo Beraquit Jr. expressed his appreciation for the training, highlighting its importance as a refresher for personnel in active duty:"Maganda po na may ganitong training bilang refresher sa mga natutunan namin dati. Dahil matagal na kaming nasa duty, may mga bagong kaalaman at pamamaraan na kailangan naming matutunan at ma-update para mas maging epektibo kami sa pagtugon sa mga emergency."
Recognizing that police officers are often among the first responders during accidents and emergency situations, the program underscored the importance of first aid and life support competencies in safeguarding lives and minimizing further harm while awaiting advanced medical care.
The Provincial Government of Camarines Sur continues to demonstrate its strong commitment to public safety by empowering its frontline responders through sustained capacity-building initiatives. These efforts reflect the province’s dedication to disaster preparedness, effective emergency response, and the overall well-being of every Camarinense.
