With the ultimate goal of bringing fast and reliable internet connection in the entire Camarines Sur, the Provincial Government, through its Information, Communication, Archives, and Records Management Office (ICARMO), has been continuously rolling out the CamSur Free Wi-Fi for All Program through the Starlink Satellite Technology.
As of press time, over 200 new public Wi-Fi sites are now operational, delivering high-speed internet access even to the farthest areas of the province. This milestone brings the power of connectivity to communities long challenged by limited network coverage, reaffirming the Provincial Government’s unwavering commitment to bridging the digital divide and ensuring that no Camarinense is left behind in today’s increasingly digital world.
The newly activated Wi-Fi sites span across the different districts of the province, with sites located in Cabusao, Sipocot, Libmanan, San Fernando, Minalabac, Gainza, Pamplona, Pasacao, Tigaon, Sangay, Caramoan, Lagonoy, Tinambac, Siruma, Presentacion, Garchitorena, Bula, Balatan, Baao, Bato, and Buhi.
These installations bring reliable, high-speed internet service to even the most geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs), supporting vital aspects of daily life, including education, employment, public service delivery, disaster response, and communication between families and communities.
The impact of this province-wide effort is already transforming lives. For student like Herbert Velasco III of Naga College Foundation and a resident of Barangay Ason, Garchitorena, access to free Wi-Fi has made education more accessible."Bilang estudyante, sobrang dakula pong pasalamat ko sa CamSur Free Wi-Fi Program. Dati, kinakaipo mi pang maglakaw pasiring sa baybayon o mag pa-centro makasagap lang ning signal para makapasa ning requirements. Ngunyan, dahil may libre ng Wi-Fi sa barangay, mas mapapadali ang pag-adal, mas magian ang buhay ning estudyante, as in dakula po talaga ang tabang para sa samuyang progreso."
Behind the seamless delivery of this impressive program is the continued coordination of the ICARMO team with local government units, ensuring that each Wi-Fi site is well-maintained, secure, and capable of providing stable internet connectivity for the long term.
