Proudly representing Camarines Sur with strength, heart, and grit, the CamSur Tri Team stood out at the recently concluded Century Tuna IRONMAN 70.3 Subic Bay held on June 15, 2024 at the Subic Bay Freeport.
These homegrown athletes, many of whom rose from the grassroots, proved that CamSur is home to world-class talent. Their strong race finish earned them top spots in their categories.
John Patrick Ciron, a proud original member of the CamSur Tri Team who, despite now being part of the national team, chose to race under the name of his beloved province.
Ciron was hailed the champion of the Century Tuna IRONMAN 70.3 Subic Bay after clocking a total time of 4 hours, 37 minutes, and 28 seconds over the grueling 1.9km swim, 90km bike, and 21km run. He was the 1st overall finisher and first in his age category 25-29.
The rest of the CamSur Tri Team also dominated their categories with their race report standing at:
- Billy Biag – 1st place, Age Group 40-44
- Renel Bricenio – 2nd place, Age Group 35-39
- Anne Nuñez – 2nd place, Age Group 25-29
Mariano Basagre Jr. – 3rd place, Age Group 30-34

With these impressive race results, seven members of the CamSur Tri Team have officially qualified for the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship to be held in Marbella, Spain, on November 8–9, 2025.
As the official grassroots triathlon team of the Provincial Government of Camarines Sur, this achievement underscores the success of the province’s long-term investment in sports development. It is a proud milestone for Governor Luigi Villafuerte and the entire provincial government, whose unwavering support continues to empower local athletes to reach the global stage.
