The Provincial Government of Camarines Sur through the Information, Communication, Archives, and Records Management Office (ICARMO) and the CamSur Animation Studio, held the graduation ceremony for its 44th batch of graduates under the Gov. Luigi Animation Training Program on February 26, 2025 at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall, Capitol Complex, Cadlan, Pili.

Twenty six (26) animation trainees have successfully completed the 840-hour or 6-month duration of training program, equipping them with industry-standard skills in animation, character design, storytelling, and digital tools.

The Gov. Luigi Animation Training Program aimed at providing a training ground for the aspiring animation artists in the province, especially the out-of-school youth. It provides students with free top-industry and world-class training programs focused on 2D Animation NC III and NC II.

“I know for a fact na maraming out-of-school youth dito sa CamSur ang hindi kayang makapagbayad ng malalaking schools at makapag-training sa animation. Mahal ang mag-aral ng animation. Kaya [malaking tulong itong CamSur Animation] dahil libre nating binibigay yung training para sa kanila,” shared Mike Bertumen, Animation Trainer of the CamSur Animation Studio.

“We followed the TESDA course description for the program. Tinuturo natin dito yung basic animation pipeline; from the script, storyboard, layout, animation, compositing, editing, hanggang sa matapos yung isang buong pelikula,” detailed Bertumen.

Among the graduates was Shannen Dorothy La Torre, who shared her experience about the program. “Very wonderful yung experience ko dito sa CamSur Animation kasi madami akong natutunan. Bini-breakdown talaga dito lahat, from basic animation to being consistent sa mga drawings, sa lines, and sa model mismo ng character,” said La Torre.

Started during the administration of then Governor Lray Villafuerte, the CamSur Animation Studio has continuously evolved and provides job opportunities to animation artists here and abroad. Over the years, with the strong support of Governor Luigi Villafuerte, the program has played a vital role in producing skilled professionals, many of whom have secured positions in leading animation studios or built successful freelance careers.

On March 7, 2025, the CamSur Animation Studio will conduct the orientation activity for the next batch of trainees and will begin the official training program on March 10, 2025.
