The DSWD Region V, together with the Provincial Government’s PSWDO, successfully distributed over ₱10 million pesos worth of Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) to disaster-stricken families from the municipalities of Gainza, Pili, Ocampo, Buhi, and Tinambac on August 14, 2025.

Families with partially-damaged houses received 5,032 in cash aid, while those with totally-damaged houses received 9,768 pesos. One of the beneficiaries is 60-year-old Beatriz Deniña from San Juan, Poblacion 1, Gainza, who shared how severe flooding destroyed their livelihood and damaged the first floor of their home.

“Sa pagbuhay mi talagang masakit lalo na sa pag-uma. Su mga paroy na aanihon na sana, dai man po naani ta nabaha. Nagparabarato pa po su presyo kang paroy. Kahirak man po samong mga paraoma. [Para makabangon], binukasan ko po su sakuyang tindahan. Nakaraos-raos naman. Ngunyan po, nakaresibe po ako ning 5,032 pesos. Maogmahon po akong maray ta dakula po ining tabang samuya lalo na pandadagdag ko po sa kapital. Dai mi na po ini sasakripisyohan asin sasakitan para makakua an kantidad na arog kaini,” shared Deniña.

She added, “Dakulaon pong pasasalamat mi sa DSWD ta tinawan po kami ning arog kaining pagkakataon na makakua ning amount na daradakula man po. Para po ki Gov, dakula mi man pong pasasalamat na mga taga-Gainza ta kadakol man po kaming naresibeng ayuda arog kan food packs na nakatabang lalo na po kang baha. Salamat po!”

DSWD Undersecretary Diane Cajipe also graced the event, urging the beneficiaries to take proactice measures such as the pre-emptive evacuation and to adhere to the disaster warnings of the LGUs to avoid casualties. She also assured the public that DSWD is always committed to providing assistance to those affected by the calamities.
