Pili, Camarines Sur – Governor Luigi Villafuerte of the Provincial Government of Camarines Sur awarded high-end laptops and Starlink units to 180 high school students in the province on February 5, 2025 at the Digital Transformation Center, Capitol Complex, Cadlan, Pili.

Students from Baao National High School, Nabua National High School, Del Gallego National High School, and Nato National High School received brand new 14” itel laptop SPIRIT 2 running on Windows 11 Pro Education Office 2021 Academic Pro operating system. These laptop units have DDR4 8GB memory and storage of 128GB SSD+1TB HDD. To ensure faster internet connectivity, Governor Villafuerte also awarded Starlink units to each of the mentioned schools.

“Kung ano pa ang pangangailangan niyo, handang-handa po kami na dagdagan pa ang tulong. I truly believe and I truly wish you all to succeed. Confident ako na kayang-kaya niyo ‘yan, with the tools that we provided, with the help of your teachers and the Department of Education,” said the governor.

The provision of these equipment is vital to the schools’ compliance with the Department of Education DM No.008 s.2025, which says that schools shall conduct learning sessions to enhance higher-order thinking skills and improve the learning outcomes of the students. Various learning sessions focused on English, Science, and Mathematics (ESM) using learning resources from Khan Academy are being conducted from January 27, 2025 to March 10, 2025. This is comprised of 24 sessions spread across eight weeks.

“Kailangan talaga mag-online ng mga bata para ma-access ‘yung mga learning materials, ‘yung mga assessment quiz, kaya malaking tulong itong mga laptops. With the Starlink naman, malaking tulong ito lalo na sa lugar namin na madalas may mga interruption sa internet. May mga pagkakataon na down talaga ang internet. Ngayon, confident na kami dahil sa reliable internet connection na mayroon ang school namin,” shared Jun Rey Sta. Mina, Head Teacher 1 from Del Gallego National High School. Expressing his heartfelt joy on behalf of the students, he added that the equipment awarded to them will help their students gain 21st century skills that are essential for their future endeavors.

Fifteen-year-old Angel Kim Bogayan from Nato National High School, one of the recipients of laptops, also extended her appreciation to the assistance. “I’m so grateful to receive this laptop and it’s an honor to meet Governor Luigi in person. Sobrang thankful po ako dahil wala po talaga akong laptop, and sa amin po konti lang ang meron nito. Sobrang confident na po ako ngayon dahil makakatulong po ito sa aking pag-aaral, at sa pag-review on national and international assessments.”

Governor Villafuerte shared the Provincial Government’s impressive plan to install Starlink in 400 sites in Camarines Sur, including public schools, to provide high-speed connectivity even to the most remote areas.
