The Department of Education Division of Camarines Sur officially opened the Palarong Camarines Sur 2025 with the theme, “Palarong CamSur 2025: Rerise of the Blazing Giants” on February 11, 2025, at the Freedom Sports Complex, San Jose, Pili, Camarines Sur.

Thousands of delegations from the five Congressional districts of the province, the Camarines Sur Sports Academy, and the Organization of Private Schools Inc. colored the grandstand with their presence and strong eagerness to bring home the bacon. They are competing for spots in different sports events, including Paragames, from February 11 until February 14, 2025.

“An aldaw na ini culmination kan higos, sakripisyo, asin dedikasyon nindo. Kamo an napili sa kada banwaan, kada distrito nindo, kaya madaling sabihon na kamo an mga pinakamaorag sa banwaan nindo,” Governor Luigi Villafuerte said during the opening ceremony of the Palaro, addressing the student-athletes representing their schools and districts.

Governor Villafuerte also expressed his gratitude to the school heads, teachers, supervisors, coaches, and the whole DepEd CamSur office for their role in holding the event. He also said that without them, the success of the Palaro would not have been possible.

“An goal ta po today and the following days is to show ang pagkatao ta. Bako lang po sa medalya o sa paggana an testigo kun ano an pagkatao. Whether gana o daog, may medalya o mayo, basta naghigos ka, pinahiling nindo an sakripisyo nindo, and you faced your opponents with respect, gabos kamo gana,” the governor furthered.

During the event, Governor Villafuerte awarded 1,000 pesos to each student-athlete as a symbol of encouragement and support for their week-long competition. He also committed to host the 5x5 basketball in the Fuerte CamSur Sports Complex, and the archery and tennis within the Capitol Complex. More so, the Provincial Government provided food for the DepEd Officials, financial aid to billeting schools accommodating the delegations, and trophies and medals for the Palaro.

To ensure the safety and security of the participants, guests, and officials, the Provincial Government also stationed its Mobile Command and Control Vehicle and Women’s Wellness on Wheels at the Freedom Sports Complex staffed with the Incident Management Team (IMT) of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC)

This year’s Palarong CamSur is centered on the rerising of the Camarines Sur Blazing Giants and the hopeful return of the championship streak to the province of CamSur. The DepEd CamSur and the Provincial Government, under the leadership of Governor Villafuerte, are working hand-in-hand in supporting its delegation and producing world-class athletes.
